Seriously?

todAAy i AAm grAAteful & thAAnkful

that I usually prefer to enjoy life.  I have a (nasty) tendency to be silly.  I've been this way all my life.  The result is that most people don't take me seriously.  I think it held me back in my professional career, although I never really wanted to be promoted beyond the level I achieved.
In other areas of my life, I was overlooked to be the responsible person because those in charge didn't think I could be taken seriously.  That's OK.  I learned to live with that.
I know what I could do.  And what I couldn't do.
And I can't change the past.

that today is my 3 AA meeting day.
I get to listen to the experience, strength and hope from many friends.

Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet. It is a way of entering into the quiet that is already there - buried under the 50,000 thoughts the average person thinks every day.

Who are those lucky people with only 50,000 thoughts a day??
I take you seriously.

I take you seriously too. I suffer the same problem though. These little girls I am working with are just beginning to realize that I am smart - they just thought I was funny. But a sense of humor is one of the major signs of intelligence, so there!

Holy Cow 50,000...

I think silliness holds me back in areas too, but it also moves me forward in others, so ... I guess it's all about balance.

I'm glad you are just who you are!

Do you want to be taken seriously? Do you want to hold onto the Joker? Do you take yourself seriously?

We used to do the Hokey Pokey in a retro dance class with a teacher who giggled to hide her brains.

I have a sense of humor beneath the seriousness and it comes out when I'm with friends. But I think in some ways my seriousness held me back.
