I love recovery!

todAAy i AAm grAAteful & thAAnkful

that we read MORE ABOUT ALCOHOLISM yesterday at the 6:30am meeting -- it reminded me of a few things ...

... the delusion that we are like other people, or presently may be, has to be smashed. I know this to be true in my case in numerous regards.

... we alcoholics are men and women who have lost the ability to control our drinking. I knew this several years before I stopped.

... we are convinced to a man that alcoholics of our type are in the grip of a progressive illness. Over any considerable period we get worse, never better. My record speaks for itself.

... the difficulty is that few alcoholics have enough desire to stop while there is yet time. This reminds me why so many don't get it on my time schedule.

It's always too early to quit.

Cool ring!

Yeah, I knew the day I started in earnest. When your whole table of friends gives you that, "holy weirdo you drank that WAY FAST? WTF" look, you kinda sense you might be a little different than the pack. :)

There's always room for Jello, except in my case--I can't stand Jello!

Nice ring. I have struggled with wanting those I love who are alcoholics to be like other people but know that they are not.

Getting away from those basics may be the most dangerous thing that any one can do with respect to the program. If you don't acknowledge the problem, it will always seem like too much work! Thanks!!

one of the things I love about recovery and blogging is that I shook the hand that ring adorns. Very kool!

And, the best I can be today is not like other people and that is plenty good enough. Thanx for the reminder.

Blessings and aloha...
