But seriously, folks,
the dessert table from our housewarming party

that we discussd Tradition 4 yesterday and I was reminded of its profund effect on me when I wrote about Rule #62 -- "Don't take yourself too damn seriously." About 2 1/2 years ago, my sponsor gave me the assignment to do that writing. Little did I know that the resulting paragraphs would prompt some actions that would change my life.
for two 1st-time newcomers at the noon meeting yesterday -- at Lambda Center AA meetings, it is tradition to have a 1st step meeting when there's a newcomer. I probably love those meetings more than any others.
that I live in Houston. Boys & Girls, this is a big city and is a very easy place to live. I have spent a lot of time in many big cities throughout Europe, Africa and Central/South America. Houston is the place to live for the best overall quality of life (in my humble opinion).
that I've done a majority of my Christmas shopping and won't have to deal with big crowds unless I choose to

Amen!
My Christmas shopping for my kids is done at the drive thru window at the bank. Take it out of the tube, put it in envelope, hand to children, get big hugs.
You are ahead of me Dave. It's against my principles to shop until after Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll do more on line this year.
You have your Christmas shopping done? Holy cow. And I love your dessert table!
the dessert table looks fabulous! First step meetings are my favorite!
I, too, love those first step meetings. I always wonder just how much sense they are making to the newcomer. They always take me back to what brought me there, and to remember that is good for me.
Good ol' Rule 62...one of my favorites.
That there's a nice spread of sweets, mister.
I love 1st step meetings for the newcome
I love Rule #62
I love fondue
I love Christmas Shopping... lol
Happy Friday
Ditto with the shopping. Malls make me ill.
Rule 62 is great. I was told to wear my sobriety like a loose jacket. I've put on a little weight since then but I hope its looser now. Great post
Maybe the new people do not 'hear' much at their first meeting (First Step), but ya know, I do not remember meeting someone who has not remembered SOMETHING from his first meeting--often not nice!
After all, what newcomer feels "nice"?
Lordy, seeing that dessert table makes my mouth water for another strawberry coated with that FAB Chocolate Fondue. Yeah, 1st step meetings keep me connectedto myfirst meeting. I remember most of it. It was incredible. And I listened - especially to Keep Coming Back. I did, and I do.
i'm not sure if you noticed that i wasn't at your housewarming, and i just have to tell you that it is b/c i never got "mah invite" ;)
yes, the newcomer meetings are the best for me as well... I was told to never forget where I come from, the newcomer helps me to accomplish this!
