... to be continued

todAAy i AAm grAAteful & thAAnkful

that my Mom seems to have pulled through yet another close call;
her blood sugar went out of control and she suffered a series of minor heart attacks

that I was sober and could drive to the hospital to meet the ambulance at 3am

that I could sit and hold her hand in peace,
and even though she was unconscious, we communicated

for the freedom and happiness that came my way after completing Step 9; I would never have believed it possible

for patience

The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running.

this has been such a rough year with your Mother Dave!
I just want to acknowledge that.
Bless her heart, and yours too darlin'.

I am so glad your mother has a sober son - who can get up at 3 a.m. and be able to drive and be there for her. I'll light a candle tomorrow for her.

Some of the strongest things come in the smallest of packages, like your mom. Prayers all around.

The best gift God gave me was the sobriety I had at the last years of my father's life. I was able to be there and hold his hand. I understand what a blessing that is, for my behavior toward my father had been so terrible when I used. I send good thoughts and prayers your way!

You know something Dave..I am always so touched by your dedication to being by your Mother's side so sincerely.Really.
Each time I read about her challenges-you are right there for her. That is beautiful to read.

And about patience..My Mom always used to say to me that patience was a virtue..only it took me YEARS to finally learn what virtue truly meant.

When I saw this quotation, I thought of you:
"You desire to know the art of living, my friend? It is contained in one phrase: make use of suffering." - Henri-Frédéric Amiel
You face it with grace, Dave.

I'm working my prayer beads. Er - actually, I don't have any, but I'm working my prayers.

Daave, My Dear Friend, Do you ever wonder why you got sober just before your Mom got sick? In God's time, not Mine.

Dave, good thoughts going out to your mother and to you. I think that it must have been comforting for you to be there with her.
