Hearing what I need to hear

todAAy i AAm grAAteful & thAAnkful

that I live a pretty damned satisfied life, no matter what I may think (sometimes)

that I am usually NOT a procrastinator (there have been exceptions, even in sobriety)

for all the people who've been writing about Rule #62 -- Don't take yourself too seriously

that Syd reminded me of the glorious odor of mimeograph ink; for those of you too young to remember that, that's too bad

It is better to look ahead and prepare than to look back and regret.

When Sr Rose Gertrude went to the mimeograph machine, we all knew clas would be suspended for a few. ALSO I LOVED the smell of that ink, I can smell it now.

I loved that smell. There wasn't a kid in class who didn't have that paper up to their nose. I loved the purple color of the ink too.

I sometimes print things in "that" purple color - and people of a certain age invariably hold it up to their noses, even though they know it isn't going to have that lovely aroma.

My dad had a mimeograph machine he would run off little league baseball status stuff. He had it in his workroom in the basement. Surprisingly I did not steal the ink and snort it.

I wonder if my brain cells were fried from sniffing all that ink. I did great on tests so who knows???
Another favorite was the smell of new textbooks and a new pack of writing paper (with the lines). Those were the days.

That color purple... I can see it so clearly. I just loved getting our math homework sheets in gradeschool. I would try to write neat but always smudged it up. Funny things we remember..

Namaste (and yes, those were the days)
