that I heard early in sobriety on that I needed to stay in the middle of the herd so I wouldn't get lost. Or that I needed to stay in the middle of the roof so I wouldn't fall off.
You got any other analogies like this?

I had a sponsor ask me: In a flock of sheep, which one would get eaten by the wolf?
I said: The one on the edge of the flock.
She said: That's right, so always stay right in the middle of the flock.
Schools of fish, flocks of birds, herds of mamals...it's all about survival...read the last chapter of "Came to Believe" at a meeting today..."no man is an island" alone we will perish...we are brothers and sisters in sobriety
I like the middle of the road, rather than veering from one side to the next.
