for a fine meeting on Step 6 yesterday and the theory that I've adopted that most people with some sober time who relapse, do so because of not practicing Step 6

that today (10-10-06) is my first day as a non-smoker (since I was 16 years old in 1970). I have smoked approximately 700,000 cigarettes since then.

that I'm getting a professional massage this morning as a gift to myself to help release the nicotine toxins from my body

that I have been using Steps 1 - 7 in earnest to help me stop smoking

for the changing weather; we need some rain

that I don't have to be responsible for making world decisions

You should not suffer the past. You should be able to wear it like a loose garment, take it off and let it drop.

Yay -- no smoking for a day, that's awesome! You can do this, Daave :)

(That's a scary dog costume, by the way!)

Oh, and I was trying to figure out what kind of scary creature that was. Glad you told us it was a dog, I don't know if I would have ever known. Creeeeepy.

See, that's why I prefer kaftans!

You've done the inside works on becoming a non-smoker, today starts the action part. Last night at the hospital I wanted a cigarette, that is the first thought like that in months. Amazing.

I had a friend named Fred who died a few years ago with 30 some years of sober time. He always said that the vast majority of time he was jammed up it was because of 6 or 7. It is often true of me as well.

Love the dog costumes.

Congratulations with quitting smoking. Remember, One Day at a Time. You can stay of cigs.

Good luck to you on the non-smoker thing! And great idea to try and remove the toxins in your body. Your cells hold memory, which lends itself to continuing the habit. If you can dose up on some fresh fruits and veggies (all colors) it will re-wire your cells memory.
