Some are sicker than others ...

Recently, I asked a friend to take me off his email list. He frequently sends emails with articles and links that relate to his political views. He is a very far-left wing activist. Good for him. I am middle-of-the-road and don't read political stuff -- be it left OR right. Thus, I asked him to take me off his mailing list so I would have fewer unread emails to delete.
You would have thought that I had just killed his family. He unleashed a barrage of insults to me (via email), concluding with damning accusations that I am a Republican gay basher and he will never talk to me again unless I make an amends to him (he's familiar with 12-step programs as he's a member of OA). Remember, all I asked is to be removed from his mailing list.

Yesterday, I was one of over 100 names copied on a email. A former drinking friend was asking if any of us wished to be removed from his bulk email list (he has a new business and often sends out financial solicitations). I replied that I would appreciate being removed from his list. He quickly sent a reply stating that he was very hurt and offended that I wanted off his list because he knows he has some great investment information to send me from time to time. Remember, he's the one who initiated the proposed removal in the first place.

WTF?

If it's about changing people, places and things, these 2 guys make that choice a bit easier.

I also hate to get those e-mails. I try to remember that people who like me sometimes assume (always the wrong thing to do) that I am like-minded to whatever their mind is. Though frequently I am not.

I've had that happen when I've asked people not to send me chain letter email. It makes you wonder why "friends" can not make simple requests of each other with out causing anger and resentmemt. Have a good saturday Mr. Dave (if you don't send this to 5 people in 5 seconds the shingles will fall off your roof.)

dAAve, you can e-mail me any time you want, my friend! Some people, sheesh!! Oh, and I am, wait... WAS a long term member of the Pessimists Club. I resigned my commission...

I hate getting those e-mails too... especially hard core political stuff... Oh, and you better forward this to all your friends before my comments unleash a wave of love, hope and compassion that you'll never stop it, lol!

I have always wondered why folks take that so personally.
I had emails from people that were forwards so I asked that they not send them to us.I haven't heard from them since...lol
Whatever..if people are that high strung..we don't need'em.

By the way..I just love your profile picture Daave..!

but daave Bill Gates is sharing his wealth, there are people spraying poison laced perfume in shopping center parking lots. I must protect you by telling how up to date I am with the latest info from the "tubes" of the internets and "the google"
Just do what I do. Filter to trash. PRobelms solved.

Now send this to everyone on you email list or you will get shingles.

I like to check facts of the "urban legends" emails. I used to get a kick out of replying with a link to the "true story" but people got their feelings hurt that way. When you read a long email, and get emotionally involved, then send it to everyone, it's a hard pill to swallow to know that you just sent an untrue email. So I've stopped doing that.

It seem that I can't stopped receiving emails that will make me instant millionaires!

Usually it comes from Bankers from Africa who wanted to share with me unclaimed legacy with a footnote,"Please, do not tell anyone else..."

Dying millionaires/billionaires who doesn't trust their own family with their legacies. They wanted to leave all to me to make good use of it!

It will never stop coming so I choose to just ignore all their pleas to make me a very rich man!

Greeting from Malaysia.

I have friend who sends round loads of junk jokes, I was going to ask her to take me off her list. Maybe I wont! On second thoughts, maybe I will!

That is insane. There is no obligation as a friend (you) to be accepting emails from others that represent spam or personal beleives. I hope you are not letting this affect you. It is theirs to own.

jeez. life is too short for 'friends' like these. i always request not to be sent stuff like this if i ever recieve it. the people that matter don't mind, and the people that mind don't matter. thankfuly i don't know anyone (except mad new aa's) who are as reactive as this, so i dont have the problem of having to deal with this type of behaviour.
