Look at all the 8's !

todAAy i AAm grAAteful & thAAnkful

for a peaceful weekend, sprinkled with rain and accompanied by lower temperatures

that I woke up sober this morning, again

that I don't have to like everyone in AA, but I need to respect them if they are finding a way to remain sober. However, there's a recent incident of someone with 20+ years sobriety 13th stepping a 1 week newcomer. The newcomer was emotionally and sexually abused by this person and of course relapsed. I find this difficult to swallow (no pun intended).

that THIS GUY had his uniform number retired yesterday at Minute Maid Park

I think that the person who 13th stepped the newcomer may be sober but is still sick. Sobriety and recovery are different IMO.

I think 13th steppers are true abusers. I warned a newcomer about 13th steppers in general when I saw some predatory behavior recently, and she thanked me profusely. A newcomer, being told to take suggestions from others, is especially vulnerable. No one should be deprived of a safe place in AA to recover from their disease.

Preying on newcomers? I have seen that many times. Disgusting.

I have no respect for anyone who uses their "sobriety" as a means to their own ends for selfish purposes with disrespect for others.

That isn't living sober. 20 years means nothing if, indeed, with no doubt, that action took place.

Bad business... not sober.

That is a blessed way to wake up.
As far as the 13th stepper, It is very hard to accept. Sometimes I think these people should be a meeting topic, but I think that would violate the traditions. It is a sad situation.

13th step
Step 1 - My life is unmanagable.
Step 12 - And I want to share it with you.

It's always sad when this happens. It's sadder that the young man did not stay sober. Run out and find him and bring him back K?

Bad stuff.

So I do not understand the 'Minute Maid Park' thing, but then I've been out of many loops for many years.

Shock! Horror! An alcoholic behaving less than honorably. Who ever heard of such a thing?

that 13th stepping thing always makes me sad. early on, i met up with an older man that "took me under his wing", i had my doubts but another friend told me he was ok.

9 months into my sobriety he offered to be my lover if i needed him, and his wife wouldn't mind a bit.

i'm very grateful that it didn't run me off, and i hold no ill feelings toward him. and, i've continued to run into him over the years and i've never brought it up.

p.s. did you know that the number 8 represents money? they say it do.
