To begin with, it's over

todAAy i AAm grAAteful & thAAnkful

that Mom's Memorial Service went smoothly yesterday

for all the Lambda Center friends who showed up in support of this drunk

that I got to meet a few of Mom's church friends who actually made us a very nice lunch after the service

that my nephew was able to catch a last-minute flight from Barbados (where he is working) and attend his grandmothers' funeral

that I was able to step up to the podium and relate a few thoughts about Mom -- without crying!! I must have learned how to do this in A.A.

Happy 85th, Bob!

that I feel a little relief from the stress I've experienced these past 3 years

Dave, I'm glad you are feeling some "ease". I'm happy "for you" that you were able to be sober during this time of your Mothers life....for her and for you.

I can say I was really proud of you yesterday. Now you can change your focus knowing you did a job well done.

How I wish I could have been there. I am so glad you got to be sober through your mom's last years - that she lived to see her sober son Daave.

As I read your posts, I feel warm toward you and the program of A.A. It changes our lives.

So told me that you did a really good job speaking yesterday. It had to be hard, no doubt, but sometimes we must do that hard thing cause it's the right thing to do. I'm glad you are feeling some weight lifted. I truly know how you feel. I am also glad for you to have been sober for your mom the past few years. Speaking as a mom I know that meant the world to her.

Thank you, dAAve. For not having to cry. I still cry--sometimes at AA meetings. For those who ain't here with us, but out there under the bridges, in the alleys, on door stoops, and in 'shelters'...

I know how you feel. I felt a sense of relief that my mother went peacefully and that her 95 years were done on this earth. I miss her to this day but there was a sense that the stress of worrying about her was over.
