on retirement ...

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.

Well for example, the other day I went into town and went to a small shop on High street. I was only in there for about 5 minutes. When I came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. I went up to him and said, "Come on buddy, how about giving a senior citizen a break?" He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. I called him a Nazi Bastard. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a piece of stinking dog shit. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote. Personally, I didn't give a shit. I came downtown by bus.

I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired.
It's important at my age.

this is NOT a true story

How do you KNOW it's not true?

dAAve, you always, without fail, bring a smile to my face! I remember getting pulled over in the Montrose area on my way to work way out on the Katy Freeway, past the beltway. (my car ran soo poorly, I couldn't drive it on the interstates at this point) This older gentleman pulled me over due to my expired inspection tag. Well, he must've had a soft spot for a pothead son or something, because, I had hair down below my shoulders, a long goatee, my eyes were squinting as only a pothead/LSD/alcoholic in his cups will. Long story short, he felt bad for my situation (i gave him some story about not having enough money for rent and car insurance. which was close to true). He has to cite me for no insurance, let me go on the tag, even let me drive on to work without searching the car (pot in the glovebox, pipes, et). He had beyond probable cause to tear that car apart. He was a nice policeman. I guess he'd sene much worse and decided I wasn't worth the paperwork I would generate! Anyhow, your story reminded me of that day.

what i hate about being retired is the question "what do you do?".... once in chicago, i was out with a friend who's a housewife... someone came up to talk to us in a restaurant while we were all waiting for tables... after a while, he asked, "WDYD?".... it was february and very cold out... she flipped her hair back over the collar of her mink and said "ABOUT WHAT?".... i've used that for a few years now.... the reactions from people are great... have a good one....david
