F.E.A.R.

todAAy i AAm grAAteful & thAAnkful

for the acronym of F.E.A.R.
... Fuck Everything And Run
... Face Everything And Recover

that I am sober and made it through another weekend of isolating

that they don't throw me out of AA meetings for being a sicko

that I am anal-retentive (obsessive-compulsive) enough to continue this list even when I don't feel like it

that when I isolate, my townhouse gets cleaner

that I am able to at least spend a few hours each day when it's NOT all about me

that I chaired the 6:30am meeting today and threw out to the group my FEAR of people, rejection and abandonment

that I have a sponsor who will listen compassionately if and when I have the Courage to call him

The thing you fear most has no power.
Your fear of it is what has the power.
Facing the truth really will set you free.

I'm curious about this "isolating" thing. Is it exclusive to those recovering, or to practicing alcoholics too? Is it common?

Marco, recently I heard someone share that they always thought they had done some major damage 'out there', when in reality they did more damage behind the deadbolted door. I understand this intimately, for years I drank behind a locked door. It applies to those of us in recovery as much as it does to those of us still active in our addiction. And it is probably not exclusive to our type, but is widespread throughout the population.

Could you isolate in my house. When I isolate everything gets more dirty.

sirreene - I'm just guessing here, but I wonder if dAAve has a furry tail, too...

Hey bro - I had never heard of that acronym before. Thanks for sharing. You are always welcome to isolate in my house as well but of course this might involve some shoveling of snow, sick children, and a mother who about to have a nervous breakdown but you are strong you can handle it. Please come.
I see you,
JJ
