going forward

that I'm gonna do my best today. I'll never get another chance to experience today.

to hear about Brian B.'s experience yesterday. His progress since coming into AA is palpable.

that I attended the Double Winner Al-Anon meeting again last night. Last week (the inaugural meeting) there were 30 people. Last night, there were 58 of us. It's my second consecutive Al-Anon meeting, but I've gone to about 6 or 7 during the past 4 years. I am confused about how "consecutive" meetings are counted. From what I understand, I have to attend 6 consecutive meetings before I am a member. Kind of confusing to me. (any thoughts, Syd?)

Dictionary.com states:

1. following one another in uninterrupted succession or order

That's about all I got, not much, eh?

Im long time al-anon and Ive never heard of any requirement to attend 6 consecutive meetings to become a member. What we say here is give al anon 6 meetings til you decide if you get something outta it, andif not, we will refund your misery~

We al-anons are a funny bunch. Glad to see AA's come into al-anon!!

I do understand consecutive sentencing if that helps.

Did you have to practice saying "I'm Dave and I'm an alanon alcoholic". I kept cracking up every time I said it, so I had to practice. It got easier...

Thanks for the low-down on that "six-meeting" thing! (I went to TWO, and decided it wasn't for me...shame.)

Dave, there aren't any rules. It is suggested that a person attend six meetings to find out if the program is right for you. The WSO has a six meeting program that is good. I chair the Beginner's Group for a meeting and most people attend that meeting to get the basics but also go to the regular meeting.
The only requirement for membership in Al-Anon is alcoholism in a relative or friend. That's it.
