Happy birthday MOM!
My mother, Patricia, died in August 2008.
If she were still living, she would have been 87 years old today (but she would never admit it).
todAAy i AAm grAAteful & thAAnkful
for the life given to me by my mother...
... love and nourishment for a lifetime
... knowledge of the difference between right and wrong (values)
... education (home schooling after school)
... moral support when I needed it most
... financial support when I was lacking
But most of all, total and uncompromising love.
I think about her often. Sometimes, I wish she was here because I miss her. But I accept the fact that she was human, had her own faults, and was vulnerable just like all of us. She lived a full and mostly happy and satisfied life. For these things, I am eternally grateful.
In May 2003 I attended my first AA meeting. A few days later my partner and I went to visit her and he told her that I had gone to an AA meeting.
She said, "My prayers have now been answered."
I'll never forget that moment.

You made me cry. I never knew your mom said that about your first AA meeting. Happy Birthday to your mom, she raised a good man.
Nice tribute. It is hardest to accept the vulnerabilites of our own family members.
Your mama was a sweetheart. I am grateful I got to meet her.
"I'll never forget that moment."
*FABULOUS!*
Your mother sounds like a wonderful person who I am sure loved you with every fiber of her being. It is so good that she knew you had gone to AA. Great tribute to your mom, Dave.
This brought tears to my eyes that then rolled down my face.
Thank you for that
She sounds like a great lady. She definitely has a great son
How very nice and sweet.
Blessings and aloha...
What a wonderful moment to have to remember! No regrets Dave.
You HAVE a great Mom.
Beautiful!
Thanks for sharing your memories. I always love seeing pictures of your mom.
beautiful words for your mom dave, you were/are a good son.
Whoa...that statement will stick with you! We had good Mamas huh?
God hears a mother's prayer. I believe this. You carry the very best of her and I just love the bottom picture with the bouffant hairdo! She was a "looker" as my dad would say!
Namaste
